Kitzsteinhorn action at the glacier is about to start
Thanks to the excellent snow conditions, the Glacier Park on the Kitzsteinhorn near Zell am See-Kaprun, Austria, will open on the 12th of October 2019 with a first set-up! Starting this coming weekend, freestyle snowboarders and skiers will find a unique snow park offer at Kitzsteinhorn throughout the entire season up to May, as the Superpipe and the Easy Park will successively open in December, Central Park in January and South Central Park in February. In addition, the new Maisi Park at Maiskogel will be launched in December. And best of all: With the opening of the 3K K-onnection, Kitzsteinhorn will be accessible directly from the centre of Kaprun via Maiskogel Family Mountain from the 30th of November 2019!
Glacier Park: The Skatepark made of Snow!
Glacier Park offers a creative set-up on the glacier plateau from the 12th of October 2019 until January 2020. On the obstacles of the Easy Kicker Line, Medium Kicker Line and Jib Lines, riders can practice new tricks and refine their existing skills. Head shaper Martin Liebmann and his experienced team stand for the world-class quality of this “Skatepark made of Snow” and the other snow parks at Kitzsteinhorn.
Superpipe: The Pipe for the Champions!
The Kitzsteinhorn superpipe, which will again be shaped by Alli Zehetner, is already legendary. As one of the world’s leading pipe experts, he also built the halfpipe for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. Open from December to May, the superpipe is 150 metres long and 6.5 metres high. It will shine with the same quality as two years ago, when all three later snowboard medal winners, Shaun White (USA), Ayumu Hirano (JPN) and Scotty James (AUS), as well as the later champion in freestyle skiing, David Wise (USA), rehearsed their tricks at the Kitzsteinhorn Superpipe ahead of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. Scotty James, David Wise and snowboard halfpipe Junior World Champion Toby Miller (USA) are also among the international professionals from 15 nations who will train their pipe skills at the Superpipe Trainingweeks at Kitzsteinhorn from the 4th of November to the 1st of December 2019.
Maisi Park: NEW at Maiskogel from December!
A thrilling innovation awaits riders at Maiskogel this season: from December 2019, the new Maisi Park will complement the extensive snow park offer of the Kitzsteinhorn. The rail line and fun line of Maisi Park will especially attract young riders, as they are the perfect preparation for the bigger snow parks.
Events: Cash4Tricks to Banked Slalom!
Apart from the snow parks, numerous events from November to May give an additional reason to visit Kitzsteinhorn. The first is the “Cash4Tricks” contest at the Glacier Park, which is part of WOW Glacier Love from the 8th to the 10th of November 2019. The Elooa Girls Balance Camp, a coaching camp for female snowboarders, will also take place there from the 29th of November to the 1st of December 2019.
A season highlight at the snow park and the superpipe are the World Rookie Tour Finals from the 31st of March to the 4th of April 2020. For the fourth year in a row, the world’s best snowboarders under the age of 18 will be competing for the coveted title of World Rookie Tour Champion in slopestyle and superpipe at the grand finale of the World Rookie Tour. Experience has shown that you can already see the future X-Games and Olympic champions at this event!
The legendary Kitzsteinhorn Banked Slalom, which will be held for the seventh time at Kitzsteinhorn on the 25th of April 2020, has become a beloved tradition at the end of the season. There is no other event where snowboarders from so many different disciplines and age classes compete against each other.
