SuddenRush Banked Slalom Laax 2018
Laax and 300 snowboarders are ready for the 4th edition of the SuddenRush Banked Slalom Laax hosted by Terje Haakonsen & Nicolas Müller. Hosted by and also constructed by – both snowboarding legends put their own men power into design and shovelled the course together with people coming from different places and countries with different backgrounds. The shaper crew was grown in an organic way during the period of building the course. They will hand over the course – located on the right side of „route 66“, from Crap Sogn Gion to Plaun – to the participants of the contest on Friday, March 2, 2018.
After the training runs the competition will start on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 10.30 am. Around 250 riders divided in 5 age categories and men/women will race through 23 banked turns trying to speed up and to win. Will Ariane Staib-Glaus and Christian Hitsch Haller defend their 2017 titles as fastest woman and man of the day? Watch them as well as top riders from former decades such as Ueli Kestenholz, Jose Fernandez, Bryan Iguchi, Peter Bauer, Reto Poltera, Pascal Imhof, Fabien Rohrer, Michi Albin, Thomas Beckna Eberharter or the 2018 Olympians Carla Somaini and Jan Scherrer. Additionally cross your fingers for all the amateur riders who will try to master the banks. Around 4 pm the happening and come-together will be continued in the rocksresort including prize giving, tea time and sound. On sunny Sunday, March 4, 2018, the spotlight will shine on the kids’ performances (start at 11 am, 3 age categories). To conclude the contests the „fakie race“ will take place at 1 pm followed by the prize giving at the Galaxxxy.
Parallel to the SuddenRush Banked Slalom Laax 2018 there is an exhibition in the Riders Hotel Lobby: Tidal – an art show in the alps. Tidal will showcase the diverse creativity in the worlds of art and snowboarding. Two worlds so interwoven that they’ve become one. From Friday 6pm until Sunday night the works and exhibits of different artists such as initiator Aaron Schwartz, snowboard pros Bryan Iguchi and Forest Bailey can be viewed.
