Vans collaborates with Joel and Tosh Tudor

Vintage prints and retro design for a collection that mixes classic style and a look towards the future!

In a collaboration that unites different generations through the aesthetics, materials and riders that influenced it, Vans is proud to present the Vans x Tudor collection, a capsule of shoes and apparel that reflects the spirit of one of Vans’ most iconic surfer families.

Featuring vintage prints, retro lettering and classic styling, the Vans x Tudor collection reflects the aesthetic of Joel Tudor, a Vans team rider for nearly 25 years, and his 14-year-old son Tosh. Whether they’re enjoying the waves of Cardiff Reef in the summer or the legendary Pipeline in the winter, the two often surf together, with their signature harmonious and casual styles, at times almost indistinguishable. The Vans x Tudor collection reflects their lifestyle, combining retro colors typical of San Diego with a classic Hawaiian vibe.

“It’s great to see how far my son Tosh has come in his career and to work on these projects with him,” says Joel. “We’re both super excited about this new collection.”

The Vans x Tudor collection features five shoe styles, most notably the Chukka DX SF java/doveberry. It was important to Joel that the collection include the Chukka, a model he wore for much of his childhood. Revisiting the traditional style of the Chukka without sacrificing Vans’ classic functionality, this model features an all-canvas upper with contrast stitching and retro lettering on the midsole designed by Joel himself. “I’ve always had something of an obsession with the lettering and fonts of psychedelic rock posters from the late ’60s,” says Joel. “Wes Wilson, Bonnie Maclean, there are so many great artists I could name. I developed my own style after studying these masters for years.”
